Isle of Bute & Mount Stuart House (Entry included)
In the morning we board the coach for a wonderfully scenic journey down the Argyll coast to reach the Kyles of Bute; the stretch of water that separates the island from mainland Argyll. After a short ferry crossing we head up through the island’s main town of Rothesay to Mount Stuart House. A tour of the House is included, and you will be amazed at the magnificent Victorian Gothic architecture. The Bute Collection is one of the foremost private collections of artworks and artefacts in the UK, which, together with the stunning architecture makes this visit an inspiration for the soul and the senses.
Dumfries House and Lunch (Tour and lunch included)
Dumfries House is one of Britain's most beautiful stately homes. Set in a stunning 2,000-acre estate, the 18th century house with its unrivalled collection of original furniture has something for everyone. Saved by the intervention of HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay in 2007, Dumfries House combines the neoclassical architecture of Robert Adam with the exquisite furniture of Thomas Chippendale and other leading Scottish cabinet makers. Following your tour, lunch is also included and served in the House.
Glen Coe & Oban
Today we experience some of the most dramatic Highland landscapes in Scotland. We start by climbing to the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor, a vast stretch of land composed of blanket bog, lochans, rivers, and rocky outcrops, and one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe. Next, we descend from the Moor into Glen Coe, guarded by the conical peak of ‘Buchaille Etive Mor’ and flanked by towering cliffs and buttresses. There will be time to stop and take photos, or just admire the stunning scenery. Then we take the coast road to Oban, where there will be time to explore the many shops, or perhaps visit the War and Peace Museum or Oban Distillery. We return to the hotel in the afternoon via Loch Etive, Loch Awe and Glen Lochy.
Blair Castle & Pitlochry (Castle entry included)
After breakfast we head east along the banks of Loch Tay to Blair Castle; the ancient seat and home to the Duke of Atholl, the only person in the UK to have a private army at his command. Made up of estate workers and 'mates' of the Duke, they can sometimes be seen 'drilling' in the grounds. We have included a tour of the castle and time to have a look around the beautiful gardens and gift shop. In the afternoon, we head down the glen to Pitlochry, one of Scotland's most popular resorts. A handsome, stone-built town, known for its theatre and fish ladder, Pitlochry came to prominence because of the railway and Queen Victoria's doctor advising people that Pitlochry air was good for their health. We enjoy some free time for some refreshment and a chance to explore the town's shops and attractions.
Your tour includes Dinner, Bed & Breadkfast and excursions plus entry fees, as stated.
Excursion may take place in a different order to those stated above.
